CYMBIDIUM
Orchid with wow effect and endurance
A slender stem with a stunning abundance of flowers, this is the Cymbidium. The flower originates from the Himalayas, is sweet smelling and can stay beautiful for up to five weeks.
COLOURS AND SHAPES
You can recognise the Cymbidium by the long stem and the flower column with red, purple, pink, orange, yellow, green and bi-coloured flowers. Each flower has a hollow, bow-shaped lip which looks like a boat. ‘Kymbos’ is the Greek word for boat and that is where the name Cymbidium comes from.
SYMBOLISM
In China the Cymbidium is a special gift for friends. The flower symbolises a valued and respectful friendship.
ORIGIN
With orchids you might think of a tropical habitat but the Cymbidium is not a tropical type. It is used to survive on the south-facing slopes of the Himalaya mountain range. Even on these rocky, nutrient poor soil, in cold nights and with bright light, it is capable of letting its
mysterious, elegant flowers bloom. A real survivor.
